Very nice, Tim. I really like the second one.

I concur... The b/w conversion is priceless... Good stuff, Tim...

Hi All,
Just about to order this amazing lens and hopefully it will add some stunning images to my wedding photography, but all this talk of back focusing and focusing shift is a little scary when its going to set me back a ££££ figure sum.

I have checked with the supplier and they said it is a 2010 model, The question is, is it of real world opinion that 2009+ models seem more consistant with quality??

I'm not new to fast L primes as I shoot a 85mm f1.2 a lot but I always seem to want a little extra width when say shooting the bride getting ready in a tight room, 35mm L sounds nice but is not a focal length I feel comfortable with at the moment for my style of wedding photography.
I use full frame bodies 5D + 5DMKII
Thank you for comments in advance.

The camera is just a storage box, it's the gLass in front that makes the image...

I just got mine. I too was thinking about a 35L but I am not sure 35 is a length I want in a prime. I have only been using it for a few days but I am not seeing much difference to my 50 1.4. I don't notice any focus issues buts it's not really a super sharp lens. I did try a 35 L and it did seem sharper to me.

Thanks for the reply Tommy,
Well when it come to sharpness that isnt the main attraction for me in this lens even though I want it to focus accurately and be as sharp as possible, it is the look, the smoothness almost a creamy dreamy look that the 85mm F1.2 gives but wider.
I have also used the f1.4 and a very nice lens it is but it just seems to have that harsh edge which takes something away from a great wedding shot.
The 50mm f2.5 is a nice little lens and very sharp, that will always stay in my bag as it is great for macro shots of wedding bands and at a cost of around £100.00 on ebay you just cant go wrong, focusing sounds like a tractor with a broken gearbox though!
