I believe the MFD is 18 inches, but others have commented that it should have been 3 feet since the autofocus can get wacky.

what do you think about this lens sharpness wide open?
I found the MTF chart to be quite poor though...both in center and corner

It's not one of Canon's sharpest L primes, that's for sure. But it's generally sharp enough and can be sharpened further in PP if required. But compared to a 35L or an 85IIL...it's a bit dissapointing wide open "out of the can".

Anyone have 100% crops they want to share... with the 5D2? From wide open to F/5.6

Thanks ,
Hatch

Yeah I have the 35L and 135L now. I used to have 85L too in the past. Those 3 are amazing out of the box wide open. I heard some mixed opinions with the 50L and some even say its comparable to sigmalux or better.

Im confused. gotta take a look at sigma thread now. :)

QUOTED IMAGE

Nice set Tom. Though I probably would have opted to clone out the OOF area in this photo. At first glance, one might mistaken it for sensor dust. (Or at least I did.) But it's probably birds in the background but they're so blurry, they no longer look like birds and become distractions.
