How do you like having 50/85/135? Most folks have 35/85/135 so it's interesting to have the 50 instead. I have considered it. I'm finally going to FF only, so I'm going to ride it out for a few months and see if I want to try it out. Using the 35 on my 7D I was missing the width and environment in my shots.

Go FF and then worry about everything else.

Everyone is different. For me, 35 is too short for portraits. I like to give my subjects a bit more breathing room. 50 for portrait outside and inside. 85L is ridiculous, amazing IQ and bokeh, AF takes forever and it can't be used for sports. Well it can. But you won't get as many keepers. 135 is ridiculous everything, IQ, bokeh, AF, can't believe the $. 135 for outside portrait and sports. So more me, 50L and 135L for portrait. How much diff is 35 and 50 anyhow, at least with the 50 and 135 you have short and long. Then I use the 85 1.8 (AF is great, sharp lens) for indoor sports when the 135 is too long. It's a nice set, for me! Good luck !!!

50L 85 1.8 135L
vs
35L 85L 135L
I believe you can save yourself around $1500

the 50L is many times faster in the AF department than the 85L. I rented it a few weeks ago and that thing is molasses. it puts out fantastic pictures, but ultra-slow.

Agreed.

lol true. hey the 85L is a sick lens. but I wouldn't have it unless I did studio work for the majority. but more accomplished photographers, may be ok with it for everything! those who have it, usually swear by it. they say, when it hits, there is nothing like it!

it will not be used for sport anyway and for portrets I have the 85mm. but I loved my sigma 50mm 1.4 for all round shots so I was wondering if the 50L could get me the same feeling again. My 35L is for car shots and church shots, the 85mm for portrets, and the 135L for headshots or other stuff. Every lens has his purpose to me.

I'm surprised you wrapped up that much coin in the 35L for cars. Since your 17-40 covers that FL. Unless they're moving, in which case the 35L would be too short.

Welcome to the club Mario! Your set up looks just like the one i want :). But you're going to love this thing a ton loads more than the 50 1.4.

Haha...we shall see, it feels beefier than my others. I am tempted to acquire the 85L down the road.
