(of course, that is Red-TAILED Hawk!)

I was taking a detour around some flooded roads, and saw this bird from quite a way off. When I got to where it was, is just sat for a while, and then flew to a higher branch. These are in the order taken. All shot with an EOS 30D and EF 100-400 at 400mm, ISO 400, f/5.6, shutter as indicated. C&C welcome, as always.

Great series PK, especially like #3. These guys seem to be hanging out in the woods a lot.

I like them all PK, the second one being my favorite. Don't you hate it that you can not go back and edit the thread title?

Thanks to all for the comments,

joyane: I also like #3, but I wish it had been turning toward me, rather than away, so I could have gotten the head better.

Dennis: Yeah, why can't we fix the typos in the titles? At least I saw it this time.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

Beautiful series of a pretty raptor. #3 is my favorite as well, can never seem to get them just in flight like that, it's a great capture.

Thanks again. I appreciate the praise for #3, but as we all know, that sort of shot is in large part thanks to the cooperative subject. They usually wait until I turn away before they take off.
