Where can I find the best most recent version of the 300D's firmware hack.

Is it worth it? Does it improve the camera? I just got a really good deal on a 300D and I'm interested to try it.

Thats the reason I asked here, google'd it and seemed to get about 28,500 different answers...so I thought I'd ask a good source.

i use undutchables hack v. 0.2.3, and it works great. google it to find it.

best benefits in my opinion are that it adds one higher stop to your iso choices and adds mirror lock-up function, neither present in original firmware.

There's a whole forum dedicated to it.

BTW, I love my undutchables hack on my 300D.

How is the noise level at ISO3200? I'm under the impression that it is the firmware of the 10D transplanted into the 300D, is that correct?

nope, it allows access to some of the features, some don't work and some can be eratic (AI Servo) however it is well worth doing, being able to change from jpg to raw at the touch of a button rather than wading through menus, FEC and MLU (don't use much) make a much loved camera even better :)
and noise at 3200...well it's noisy but sometimes a noisey pic is better than nothing at all. Neat image works wonders

Yeah, ISO 3200 is almost unuseable, LOTS of noise artifacts, very distracting. MLU is very handy, I use it for long exposures, and I use FEC and the Exposure lock almost every day. Love this camera, only wish It had a larger buffer!

When you turn the dial past 1600, do you get an H? That's 3200!

Yes, absolutely. I took this at one of the kids school plays at f/2.8 at 200 mm with a Sigma 70-200 lens. ISO was at 3200 and cleaned up with Neat Image.

It is not a great image, but a bad picture was better than no picture in this case. It was the only opportunity.
