As to macro or close-up, look at the second link in the OP. My first impression was that it was done with simple shallow DOF. However, if that is the case, the lens has got to have the world's best bokeh. I have never seen bokeh so smooth, so gradual. Is it possible it is shallow dof, but that the bokeh was smoothed out? Or perhaps some sort of a radial/gradated blurring fron the outside to center? /Dan Website

I have a decent 1:1 Tamron macro but have very rarely use it. Guess I'll have to give it a try. Good point, PhotosGuy. It's the devil to remove that standard vaseline.
