CS3: Camera Raw missing from Bridge (Windows)

OK, I've recently upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to CS3, and I'm having an annoying issue and am wondering if anyone here can help.

In Adobe Bridge CS2, I could right-click a CR2 file and open it in Adobe Camera Raw WITHOUT opening Photoshop first.

In Adobe Bridge CS3, I can't. The only way I can open a file in ACR is to send it to Photoshop, which will import it via ACR.

However, sometimes I just want to process all my photos in Bridge without opening them in Photoshop.

The option to open in ACR from Bridge isn't greyed-out, it's just not THERE. Ctrl-R doesn't work. There's nothing in Preferences -> General -> Behavior along the lines of "Double click opens ARC in Bridge" like there's supposed to be (apparently). Yet the plug-in is installed in Photoshop fine.

Anyone got any tips? I've tried googling, but no-one seems to have this exact problem.

In the pipeline: No idea. Suggestions?

Reinstall. CS3 works the same as CS2 did for you, but I find Adobe very crap in general for usability.

I've already reinstalled once, no go. Might just have to get used to this ¬.¬

I'm having the same problem, after upgrading from the beta version to the full version. No solution but a couple of interesting threads, neither helped me though.

I have the same problem now.
It was working fine from when I originally installed it a couple weeks ago until yesterday where now the ACR options got removed. I have no idea why ACR would all of a sudden get removed from Bridge. I tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling to reloading WindowsXP from scratch and installing CS3. No luck.

I had huge problems with Bridge when I first installed CS3 after the Beta even though I followed all the uninstall instructions to the letter. The CS3 update, however, solved all of them so if you have not done so that is worth trying.

I have a related, but slightly different problem, I can't double click in bridge and send to photoshop - even a jpeg - I have to open ACR first -which works fine from bridge for me.
Problem cropped up after I downloaded and ran the ACR update for CS3, before that mine was running fine as it was supposed to. I am not touching the software until Adobe comes out with the next update as all it means is I have to right click and open in ACR before sending to PS, but that is okay as I like what it does for jpegs as well.

-- Fix! --

Hey guys, I had this same annoying issue where I couldn't open RAW files in Bridge. I finally found a fix. (yes, I realize it's a late post hah)

Just Open Bridge, go to Help at the top and Update..

Once the update finishes, RAW should work once more.

i assime you already tried this but i thought i'd post just in case.
The neat thing about Adobe Camera Raw is that both Photoshop and Bridge utilize it independently of each other.
To process Camera Raw files in Adobe Bridge before getting to Photoshop:

  1. Go Edit > Preferences > General tab.
  2. Then tick/enable ‘Double-Click Edits Camera Settings in Bridge’. This setting basically fires the Camera Raw module within Adobe Bridge for further processing.
If it is not ticked, then Bridge will minimize and Photoshop will maximize and handle the Camera Raw processing.

I had this checked already, but either way, you should still be able to open it within bridge by right clicking on the RAW file and choosing the Camera Raw option. The issue was that the option for Camera Raw was not present. The update fixed my issue with that right after it had finished.

Here's where the problems start... see attachment. I just use ACR in photoshop, it's a little slower for my workflow but it works fine.
