Hi,

I recently took some engagement portraits of my friends and would like honest c&c.

One of the parties involved very recently experienced a death in the immediate family, so I was unsure of how it would go. Luckily I had the time of day right, they were very comfortable with me and each other, and needed very little assistance from me on posing and being comfortable. The bride-to-be's mom was VERY pleased, but the husband-to-be's father is a pro wedding photog.

Thanks for any comments!

I really like #3 and #6. I'm not a big fan of the blurriness of #2. #6 is great though...a very typical engagement photo with the ring showing. I like these "classical" types of poses!

Thanks Ksenia--

Sometimes I find myself trying to be too creative and forgetting the basics. These 6 are but a small amount of the 100 or so I took that day.

Tmosley--

Although I'm not sure I agree with you, you do have a good point in that the color of the couple's clothes can mean alot. Unfortunately I couldn't pick out the outfits :) I hadn't noticed the brightness of the images as a problem, but now that you mention it, they do look a bit dark.

Watch your shutter speeds and iso. Is ther a little bit of camera shake in a couple?

I guess my hobbyist or amateur-ishness sort of shown through. Perhaps naievely, I use between 100-200 iso with a fast prime (when lighting permits) to get as 'sharp' a picture as possible.

I used a tripod or monopod on every shot, hoping that would eliminate blurriness, but a lesson to be learned is that it isn't always a result of camera shake. Out of the hundred or so I took, only a few came out blurry, and were the results of the subjects moving.

Thanks for the notes.

I really like the blurriness of #2. They appear to be playing some sort of game, like he's trying to kiss her neck and she's resisting. You got the action and expression very nicely!
