I use a calumet lightstand case, which is pictured below, the only downside is that its kidn of small and has no wheels.

so, while perusing FM, i saw that a photographer was using golf stand cases for his light stands. i thought it was a great idea so i headed down to the local golf store. 120 dollars later, i have a big hardcase with wheels.

its very roomy, i fit the entire calumet bag, plus an 5 foot octabox and a large softbox and speedrings and i still have a ton of room to spare. im just glad to have a case that i can wheel now.

also, when i told the clerk at the golf store what i was using them for, i found out that he used to assist annie lebovitz at her nyc studio, he had some awesome stories.

great job, do you also golf? I like things that have high utility. How much does a similar case that's actually made for light stands cost?

My bag has a shoulder strap. Makes it much easier.

I have the Paul Buff light stand case - with Impact light stands. I can fit three 10' air cushioned stands, reflector arm, boom arm and three umbrellas. Its an interesting design, one end will zip open and there is a zipper along the long side of the bag. Two 'pockets' that fit a light stand each and two snaps inside the bag to keep everything from rattling around. Not bad for $50.

I like the hard-shelled golf case idea. That'd probably fit everything plus my PVC light panels.

That's not a cheap case for 120... You can almost buy a pelican with that.

I bought a package of 2 stands and brollies from elinchrom and they have a shoulder bag which works nice.

How many lights are you using and what do you usually shoot?

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I usually use around two lights per shoot, but I always bring 4. I go to a photography school so I have a ton of different subjects that I need to shoot. But I mostly shoot people. As seen at my website. vvvv

The golf case is a great idea. Unfortunatly, I just bought the Calumet case. But, now thinking about it, I bought a wheeled golf club case years ago... time to clean out the garage!

Very cool!!!!!!! Can you pick me up one of those cases? I'll come pick it up and give you cash, I only like 15 minutes from Philly! Or can you tell me the address of the store you got yours and tell me if there are any more of these cases in stock!

:)

Or maybe just tell me make and model of the case! :)

PM me please thanks! Sorry I've been looking for a case for my stands also, I've been having a headache with this lately because I usually use 4+ lights, with gels, grids and other modifiers for my location shooting. Junk is everywhere and I am trying to get this stuff more organized.

If you actually carry your stand a lot and need them to be compact, you should look into these:

Save quite a bit of space, because they collapse flat.
