Hi everyone, been a busy week at work and havent got out birding much, just a few minutes on the drive home. Here is a red tailed hawk that I just missed photographing the "catch" coz I couldnt get the car stopped in time. The Hungarian or Gray partridge was one of two that were at my feeder at sunup, they ran around like screwballs trying to keep all of the jays off the ground. The light was poor so slow shutter speeds, taken through my window. Hoping to get out tomorrow to capture some better shots. Take care, and thanks for looking.

Terrific hawk shots-too bad he's not flying towards you! As for the partridge--where's the pear tree??? :)

Lol Karen, alas but hawks always seem to be flying away from me. now if photoshop will just come out with a "reverse view" function, I'd be all set. ;)

And thanks for the comments Karen. :D

I really like the Partridges. Just never would have pegged them as feeder birds! :)

Interesting hawk shots, even going away. And you got Partridges in your yard? How lucky is that? :)

Thanks Ed and Mitch. Yeah I was surprised to see these guys running around the ground below the feeder.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

Excellent captures of the Grey Partridge Trevor and this is a bird in decline in North America so I am amazed you get them at your feeder. I would buy a blind in a minute and set up for low angled shots on these.

On a seperate note, I photographed a couple of these today and its the first time I have ever had such a chance so again...amazing to have these in your yard...take advantage of that....

Thanks Gary, havent had them back (that I've seen), but they are around. We had two large flocks nearby all winter, and I seen many other flocks in my travels. They were in decline here so the closed down or limited the hunting season on them and they seem to be rebounding.

Nice shots of a beautiful introduced species (Gray partridge, originally from Asia). I would second Gary's suggestion of a blind...besides you could use it for other birds too!

Thanks Daniel, I do have one of those blinds, but the partridge havent been coming back. I do see them everyday, but in different spots. Last year they had their brood not far from my house, The first time I was able to get an accurate count there was 18 of the little ones running around. Hoping they have their nest nearby this year as well.
