Here are some photos of Bridal Veil Falls that I took yesterday while tooling around the Columbia River Gorge. These photos were taken with my 1D/EF 17-35 f/2.8L combo, in Tv priority mode. The 1st photo was taken on the lower section of the trail on the way to the falls, Tv=1/4th, Av=f/14, ISO=100, 24mm. The 2nd photo is of the falls, Tv=1/15th, Av=f/13, ISO=100, 17mm.

I really love how your first shot came out - the green really stands out at me. I haven't been to the Columbia River Gorge for years and hope to make it back there someday.

Sperlock... thanks for the comments. Yeah, I'm not as happy with the way the colors came out in the 2nd photo... but it is what it is. I'm going to have to make another trip out there when the weather is better.

I really like #1. #2 is also nice, but something about #1 is outstanding, maybe the detail in the landscape?

Thanks tomd... my wife also likes photo #1 better. Maybe it's where I set my focus point at... I'll have to check the original file.

I think the composition is what also makes photo #1 great. The waterfall and river lead your eyes.

I think it's the unusual composition and vividness of the green that makes #1 so nice.

Did you do anything with the colours in that one?

I admit that I did do a little color adjusting. The original shot was a bit "neon" green, so I desaturated the green just a bit, then boosted the yellows and reds just a touch. I tried not to touch up too much, otherwise it won't look as natural. I'm happy with how it came out.
