I enjoyed the site:

I'll bet there are no Spread Eagle shots like this found anywhere.

I'm glad you enjoyed his site. Did you notice the link to this? http://academic.evergreen.edu …/YNP%20Main/YNPeagle.html (external link) I think he said it was 30 degrees below zero that day.

No I hadn't seen that one and it does look like the pose.

That is one I've not seen pose before

I've got better GBH than him. LOL just kidding.

I have similar shots from other species, all in the sun like this. It's simply warming them up I think.

I think that he is just preparing himself to compete for the artwork on a government contract for new currency.

A nice, " spread eagle " shot, gary.
I lived in the northern part of our province, along the rain coast for over 33 years, and saw many eagles do this type of thing.
One of the reason I was told that they do it is to help dry out their wings after many days of rain, and they also do it after they go into the river after salmon or other food.
They then swim to shore, and sit like this to dry their wings before flying again.

I agree Ed I've seen many Speices Do this to Dry out. This bird had been to the nest a sat for a hour or more before this display. A Redtail Hawk was overhead a She Saw it and began this display. The male flew to a neighboring tree and Fluffed up as well. I believe this was a Theat Display. I may be wrong but you just had to be there.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p
