This little fellow landed next to me as I was laying nest to the slough taking pics of wood ducks. He was near the minimum focus for the 400mm.

Nice close up! I find that sometimes the bird is too close for the 400, gotta try to back up or forget it..lol.

Nice shot of the Savannah Sparrow, rw. If you throw some seeds on the ground, they could get quite close even if they know you are there. They are the less shy compared to other sparrows.

Those two always confuse me unless i see and hear them right in front of me.:)
Over here, the Savannah would jump on your palm if you have some seeds out. The order of the skittishness of our sparrows here (least to most) is:
1. Savannah
2. Lincoln's
3. Chipping
4. Song
5. Swamp
6. Field
7. Harris's
8. White-crowned
9. White-throated
10. Vesper

I guess that's also subjected to each individual sparrow's personality :D.
