Hi All,

I don't normally photograph animals (that often) so thought I'd biff this photo up here for you to CC.

I took it with a double paged spread, or menu, in mind - hence the space on the left hand of the image.

This cat was quite a character.

The shot was not posed or 'set up' in any way, I simply saw the shot and took it.

Interested in your feedback, thanks.

Cliff

By the way, the JPEG compressions killed it a bit, the actual photo's very sharp.

The impossible has begun - another step closer - and I am very hungry for it.

Wow, that's a great shot. Looks like it could be a post card or a pet product promo. I love cats.

Nice shot. I actually like the extra space on the left - gives you the feeling like you could be looking at something else, except the cat's eyes have hypnotised you. Kind alike how my ca-..............

Mr. Squeak (see avatar) likes to drape himself over my shoulder that way also. He just started that behavior recently. I really do need to trim his front claws.

Beautiful, it stands by itself, does that. The empty space gives the person space in which to look when the cat's looking the other way.

A perfectly balanced shot. Love it.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. Much appreciated.

It was one of those shots that you know you've nailed as soon as you've taken it.

I have sent the photo off to a pet magazine publisher to see if they want to buy it. It's currently in the art department "for consideration". Hopefully it'll sell. If they don't want it I'll peddle it somewhere else.

Yes, definitely peddle that one some more. It's prime material for pet-orientated businesses. Probably also work for the fincancial sector as well.

All I'd recommend is that you clean up the right hand (as we see it) eye, which looks just a little crusty in the corner by the nose. Just clone in the same colour as the left hand one and it'll be a true winner.

Thanks for that. The cat suffers from a weeping left eye (its left - our right), apparently due to a bout of 'cat flu' it had when it was very young.

Ahh.. I see. Well, sort out that, give the eyes a touch more sparkle, and you've got it.

Smashing. I could see myself being drawn back to that picture time and time again.

Thanks again Pete.

I figured I'd up the catchlights in the eyes if the image sells, I did after all send the magazine a low res version - as you see above.

Does make me think that I should do what you've suggested for the next round of 'peddling'. Your suggestions are excellent. Thank you.

It's just a really stand out image for me. It deserves the peddling to get it out there and used. A little delicate post processing will really make it shine, but it really doesn't need that much at all.

Not the biggest fan of cats but I love this photo, as the others have said the balance is perfect! Hope your peddling works :)
