I haven't seen one of these critters since I was in Elementary School. Not only was it cool to see him (or her?), but he was very cooperative with the pictures.

Taken with a 5D and 100mm f/2.8 Macro. A little bit of cropping, but these are almost full frame...he really let me get close!

Horned Toad ???
It looks like a lizard of some sort to me.
but other than that it's a nice sharp image

Ah, yes, these were regular visitors to my frontyard when I lived in Tucson, Arizona, in the foothills of the Catalina mountains....

Sorry Allan - you are correct. Horned Toad or horny toad is just a nickname. I'm pretty sure the latin name for these works out to be something like "toad like body."

Wow, Nice shots! Ive only ever seen one of these in a Zoo lol, but they are pretty mad animals! Thanks for sharing!

I can remember finding these guys in my backyard in San Diego in the 1950's. Now they are scarce and listed as a "Species of Concern" by the Federal Government and the State of California.
