Batch Conversion to 72dpi from RAW

I know many of you are going to say "WHY" but I have reasons.

My 42" plasma has a built in card reader for viewing photos, the bummer is, they have to be jpegs at 72dpi. My wife always goes on at me for not showing her the many hundreds of shots I take before I cull out the trash.

So, I want to be able to convert from RAW, using auto settings, set to 72dpi and save to jpeg, all files in a specific folder, with no user intervention.

I've tried using the Batch process in CS2 but I had to click on Open for each RAW conversion. I tried a droplet but kept getting errors.

If anyone can assist, I would be eternally grateful.

Sorry, but I think your reasons are wrong.

Your plasma screen probably has a maximum resolution if 1920x1080 pixels if it's new, but it could be as low as 1024x768 if it's not so new. Pictures straight out of your 350D are 3456x2304 pixels, and changing the resolution to 72 DPI doesn't change that.

Are you saying that your plasma can convert 3456x2304 to 1920x1080 if the DPI is set to 72, but not if it's set to any other value? I find that very hard to believe.

I think the real issue here is what size pictures (in terms of pixels) your screen can handle, not the DPI setting. But feel free to tell me I'm wrong.

If I select a bunch of CR2 images (either in bridge or the finder), and open them in PS, I can 'select all' in ACR, and then click 'save x images', to save them all. You can also syncronise different settings (like the size)...

StewartR, I didn't explain myself particularly well. I did miss out the part about resizing but I am correct in saying the images have to be 72dpi. I tried a few older images that worked at 1800 x 1200 at 72dpi but not any higher.

No probs, sorry for doubting you. I only wish I could help with the batch conversion but I don't know those bits of PhotoShop very well.

No worries. I think I've done it using a combination of actions and the Image Processor.

I bought a copy of Mike's Framing Script for another reason and found it does this type conversion quite well via a droplet. He even gives the instructions for you to create and use the droplet.

CS2 bridge will save images as 72dpi, then run them through image processor to get them the right pixel dimensions. Or write a simple action.
