Hi,

I tried my 100MM f/2.8 EF Macro out this weekend on some local flower beds.
Here are a couple I really liked. The 100MM Macro is an amazing lens.

Enjoy,

Great colors Jim... The second pic has my most favorite flowers... I can't grow either of those, cause the deer eat them for breakfast, or as an appetizer, or even dessert...

Erik,

Correct...in #1 I was focused on the pink flower in the middle. I do have some extreme closeups but I just liked the wider views better. I experimented with setting the fstop at 2.8 to see the DoF but I found the the DoF and bokah was very pleasing at smaller fstops as well. #1 is f/2.8 and #2 is f/7.1.

Here is one more at f9.

Thanks...I found that flower bed at a gas station of all places...albeit an award winning gas station...they blend into the environment well in all seasons.

The 100MM Macro is a very versatile lens...it is much more than just a macro lens.

They still lack punch, maybe a lil curve playing. Were these taken on a tripod ? If not they would probably be sharper.

These are right out of the camera with no PPing. I'll have a go at them tonight to see what happens...you are correct about the tripod...100MM on a crop camera close up is tough hand held.

I'm still learning this lens...I got it in winter time and I am going to have a lot of fun this spring and summer with it. i guess it is time to drag out the monopod for this one.
