Thank you Mitch. Apparently they stay along the coast in teh winter and then migrate inland to breed in the summer.

Thank you Sindri. I agree about the beauty of these little ducks. I was very happy to see and photograph them. I actually got a couplw of shots of two pairs together the next morning but they were quite far away in the surf.
