This is my first time going out to specifically shoot birds as I am normally a landscape shooter. I spotted this heron last time I was out a few weeks ago and wanted to go back to get some more pictures of him. I don't have a "bird" lens but I think my Sigma 150mm macro + 1.4x TC did okay. This guy was extremely tame and I was able to get pretty close to him without scaring him away (10-15 feet). Enjoy!

And he finally got bored of me and left:

Watch out it is addicting, like sticking a needle in your Wallet and watching the money fly out.

Nice captures BTW.

Very nice. Which part of the arboretum was that in? I went to the Union Bay Natural Area (behind baseball field and driving range) at UW on Saturday and only managed to see a few Great Blue Herons as they flew away :(

After I was done there I drove across the ship canal to the arboretum but didn't really know where to go and it was getting late so I called it a day and went home.
