Found this male yellow-headed blackbird on one of the fenceposts.
I used my 100-400 mm lens, AV, ISO-200, f10, 1/800.

Thanks for checking!

Elfie:)

I would love such an opportunity. Very cool looking bird and for whatever reason there is one in our area for the second year now. I like the composition and BG.

Thanks Gary for the kind comments!
We live in the country. There is about a mile of fenced road we have to pass every time we leave home. I have had shots of meadow larks, horned larks and now this yellow- headed black bird. I never leave home without my camera.
Have a great day!

Great shot Elfie. I would eat the heel off a pig farmers boot for a shot like this. I've been watching, cause I know they are around here, but haven't seen any or read of any sightings. :(

And congratulations on making the book. :D

I wouldn't go as far as Mitch (perhaps I'd eat the top of the boot) but I would also love to photograph one of these blackbirds.

Thank you Mitch and Stephen!
I never heard of that expression - I will tell the blackbird to come and visit you both!
A few years ago I used to see them at that location but not lately until yesterday.
Have a wonderful day!

Elfie:)

PS: Congrats to you too Mitch! Very nice looking baldy!

Hello EdwardF!
Thanks for taking the time to improve the image! I am looking forward to seeing the fixed version!

Thanks for allowing me to work on this image.
The first thing I did was clone out the bird droppings on the stump.
Next, I cropped a bit off the top and bottom, and gave it a more of a square appearance, as there seemed to be to much space above and below the subject.
The last thing I did was a touch more sharpening. ( This is just my view on this image ).

Its a great image, Elfie. You should frame and hang this one.

Edward,
Thank you so much for fixing my little yhbb!
I guess I did not pay enough attention to the details (droppings...).
It looks great now! I will get it printed and hang it up.
Thanks again!

Elfie:)
