I've had some good photo opportunities with these guys lately---They're notoriously hard on the fish population according to many of the locals hereabouts--(I doubt it) and they're also reputed to ruin stands of their roosting trees (with abundant suppies of super hot guano from their fish diet). I will vouch for their less than attractive appearance but I'm thinking they fill some ecological niche somewhere---
