What a gorgeous bird. I look for these all through the winter and see them fairly regularly at the right spots. Usually far out or at some dump site with other gulls. This beauty happened to be on the beach (and it's spring!) hanging out with the regulars (GBB, Herring Gull, etc.) I was fortunate to be close to it and finally get some shots in good light. Notice the lack of black primaries (wingtips) giving rise to the general term 'White-winged Gulls' which includes Glaucous Gull as well. This is a first-year bird. Adults look similar to Herring Gull, but with very pale primaries, and paler and smaller overall. Enjoy the shots.
