I've heard people complain macbook run sluggish when using external monitor. I just want to know how true that is. Is there anyone with first hand experience?

I'm not going to play 3D games on it. My usage is mostly photo/video editing. Maybe some 2D gaming but not likely.

My plan is MacBook + Dell 2007 WFP running in dual display mode.

thanks

well the macbook doesn't have a seperate video card, so you're using your main resources for it, and being taxed even more so with a 2nd monitor.

do you have a budget for a macbookpro?

well, I have a budget for it if I have to but I prefer spending the difference on a monitor instead. I also like MacBook's size when I bring it on the road with me.

I can upgrade to 2GB ram if sluggish performance is caused by shared RAM used by built-in graphic card. My concern is the problem is the card itself and not the amount of RAM.
