When using canon if I want to see if parts of my photos are blown out I hit the image preview button then hit info twice, and alittle histogram comes up and you can see a small version of the image and you can see the blown out parts blinking.

But the image is soo small!!!!!!!!!

When using my buddies D200 I go to check for blown out spots and the image fills the entire LCD and the blown out spots are easy to notice without straining your eyes!

Is there a way to make this full screen for canon also or is that just the way it is? Shooting 5d now, don't know if that makes a difference.

I believe it's just the way it is.

I checked my 5D and manual and didn't see a way to do that.

yeah I checked too, I was hoping maybe someone knew of a custom function or something.

It's really sad because the d200 really shows you where your blown out spots are, I guess with canon you have to just go by the histogram. Even canon's histogram is weak in comparison to the d200's. In that way the d200 is superior to the 5d and lesser canon models, I don't knwo if the 1d is full screen view or not.

That would be awesome. I had the Oly E-500 for awhile and that one did full screen highlights, and shadows. It'd be nice if Canon could get that feature. That 2.5 inch screen was nice too. 1.8 just isn't the same after that...lol

If you saw a man drowning and you could either save him or photograph the event...what lens would you use?

That feature is on the 1 Series. Canon just needs to move it down to the prosumer bodies as well.

Thanks!

I had a chance to pick up a 1D at a steal te other day, but I let it slip by. I'm really kicking myself now. I have recently started to get more into wise angel stuff, and the 1.3x crop is a lot more forgiving than the 1.6 of my D60.

Yeah I like the 1.3x crop. It's not true 1.0 but it gives me some of my wide back and chops out the worst parts of the frame. I think the ideal crop would be 1.125x! :D

Right after I take a pic on my 400d it flahes with any blown out spots. I dont know if that is what you are talking about. I beleive it only works in the full review mode though. If you have the histogram or EXIF data showing it wont do it. I dont have my camera with me right now or Id test it out for ya.

It does it in full screen mode?

That's what I want, don't know why anyone would want to turn off that feature.

Well it's nice to know that the 1series have the feature. It's not a matter of life and death but it's a good tool to have.

If you really want too see your blown out spots in your camera and your on the go, I would recommend the Epson P-3000 Mutimedia storage viewer. It has a 4 inch screen and you can do the same thing as in camera but with a larger screen. I was playing with my buddies Epson P-3000 and mine is on the way. =)
