Agreed. A direct comparison might be overkill here.

On my D60, most of the Raw only files are 6-9MB. Only a scant few dipped under 6MB, and only a scant few were over 9MB (mostly high ISO).

This is just speculation, but must mean that there is more randomness or color noise in my images. Maybe other cameras (maybe newer) do processing differently to reduce color noise, and that might reduce the overall size of the file.

Mere speculation.

Would you like folks to respond to your speculation any differently to the way you responded to CyberDyneSystems's?

Hello,

More stats for those interested. I finally got my 10D last week and spent a few hours fotographing the Tulips. Still not sure which way to go re RAW vs JPEG I shot both (JPEG Large/High Quality). I used the Canon software to extract the JPEG's.
For 126 images there is 1,122,654,816 Bytes required = Ave 8,909,959 Bytes per image.
Here follows the info re the largest and smallest RAW / JPEG files.
A: JPEG 4,248K, RAW+JPEG 11,426K (RAW = 7,178K)
B: JPEG 1,433K, RAW+JPEG 6,451K (RAW = 5,018K)
C: JPEG 4,091K, RAW+JPEG 10,984K (RAW = 6,893K)
D: JPEG 1,442K, RAW+JPEG 6,533K (RAW = 5,091K)

Michael

Fair is fair. It was already stated as speculation. Do you need to change that?
