these are great,
mebailey - great color on those for no flash
rparchen - also, I like that one,
saravrose, is that last one really no flash, all things point to a flash to me, the color difference from background to foreground, and the hot spots on the face, and shadow right near the neck. But a very nice pic, I love the other 2.

I think some forms of reflectors were used on some of the shots???

Yeah, that baby/toddler girl picture sure looks like flashed.

You can always convert to B&W if you don't like the colors :-)

Available window light face illumination in dark restaurant, Canon 30D and 17-55 IS: http://postit.rutgers.edu/uploads/Zade%5FGood%5FDay.jpg (external link)

My Dad, is WW II Iwo Jima, Guam, and China USMC combat veteran, and nearing the end of his days. He was feeling chipper and mobile last Sunday, so I took him out of nursing home and shot this handheld in a dark restaurant. He was a bazooka man on Iwo, and deeply moved by Clint Eastwood’s movie Flags of our Fathers movie. The really are a great generation.
