All,

when you crop your images, do you crop them to specific picture dimensions if you are going to print them? say you wanted to get them printed at costco, would you crop them all using the 3x5 crop in photoshop (i use elements, don't think it matters though)? is this the same thing with large poster prints? I crop most of my images, but usually i just post them on the web, so they aren't in a set size.

any info here would be a great help.

thanks,

Brandon

I always crop using PS at 300dpi for the size of print I want. To do otherwsie means you risk the printier cropping it to fit the size of print you asked for and, in the case of a different aspect ratio, you may have parts of the photo cut off. I use www.whcc.com (external link) for most of my printing. Good luck, Dennis

If I plan on printing them or having a lab print them, then I will crop them to the size or aspect ratio of the print, example, if I am printing an 8x10 and some 4x5's of an image, I would just crop it to 8x10 and use that file for both sizes.

I just make them the size that they should be. I've printed some images at 1"x1" on 5x7 paper because that was the way they looked best. The image normaly decides for me. Some images suggest 16x24 or 4x6 and my last one was 8x40

I just sent in an order for 126 prints at Costco (3 sets of pics 42 each set). I resized all the images before uploading them to Costco. I also downloaded their printer profile and chose to have them NOT correct my images.
