I just bought a Sigma 105mm Macro. It is suppose to be a true 1:1 lens; but I don't know how to verify that claim. The lens barrel is marked with ratios; but it does not go down to 1:1. The minimum focusing distance is suppose to be 12.3"; but is that measured from the front of the lens or the plain of the sensor? I thought that a 1:1 lens was suppose to make an image on the sensor (or film) the same size as the item being captured; but I don't think the Sigma is doing that.
I'm sure this has been asked and answered. Please forgive a newbee.
Thanks
Ches
