As a teenager, I was the gopher for a birding group and falconry club where I grew up. My summer job was to climb tall trees and raid hawk and owl nests for the guys on the ground doing the banding. I know what it's like to be attacked by Red Tails and Owls. You should see someone trying to climb a tree in a footbal helmet and neckbrace in a leather coat.
But, the fact is, I was never actually attacked. They would fly around awful close, screeching and carrying on, but none ever actually touched me. If they had, I'm not sure a helmet, neckbrace and leather coat is going to break your fall from 40 feet.
. although my lens seems to do the trick.
