I am thinking about buying a Mark II n
and I have heard there are some problems with this camera.
I would like to hear from owners of a Mark IIn if they have an issue with their camera and what can be done to fix a problem
Thanks Ricko of Fl

bannedPermanent ban

what issues have you heard about?

banding at iso 3200 and with certain lenses is the only real common one, and its not all across the board wit every camera.

I'm sure if you compared the number of units canon have sold (of which many have been used hard and abused by pro snappers) against the number that have had problems you will probably find that the numbers are minor and nothing to worry about.

It's like buying anything else, know what you are looking at and be choosey. I'm sure there are going to be a fair few IIn's coming onto the second hand market soon as people get their new MkIII's so just bide your time, buy one that has been looked after and enjoy it.

(This from a man who is buying his MkIIn next week - though I am buying new)

Never had a problem with mine, it's a fine camera. The only issue I have is I only have one.:D :D ;)

I think my 1DMIIN transfers data more slowly to my CF cards than my 1DMII but I just don't have the energy to delve into it. Anybody ever hear of this?

Which card/cards have you noticed this?

The camera is awesome; most users can't even imagine using all of it's features. The only issue I uncovered before I bought mine a year ago was with a lot of sensitivity with the shutter. Early models had reports of shutters being too easily tripped with even the lightest touch. This can be adjusted by Canon if it's an issue. My model had none of these problems at all.

excellent camera that was a considerably huge step up from the 20D for me.

I've owned my 1DMKIIN for a quite a while now and I've not noticed any problems. It would be much more helpful if you could tell us what specific problems concern you. I've never heard of any beyond the banding issue mentioned above, but it's never affected me.

The banding thread is here https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=264267 but since mine has been fixed I can't believe how good it is.

If you're going to buy one and expect it to have issues, you aren't going to enjoy it or use it to its full potential. Like mentioned above, the ratio of those that have had problems against the amount of 1D2Ns sold is so small it isn't worth worrying about.

All my cards are Sandisk Extreme III's and the ones I am currently using are 8GB.
