uh oh... I smell trouble... ;)

I use PC. I have an aversion to any machine that's 'cute'.

But in reality.... in this day and age.... BOTH platforms will let you do your photographic tasks. One is not limited more than the other, no matter what the diehard fanboys will say. Either will let you get your work done and produce excellent, professional images. Just use whatever you are used to.

Macs are for the computer illiterate.
I use Pro Show Gold for quick slideshows and Adobe Premiere and After Effects for more elaborate (Fancy) slideshows.

So I guess you are the type that would rather have a vehicle that requires the handle to roll up the windows vs power windows because power windows are for the lazy and ignorant.

Actually, I'd rather have manual windows because its such a PITA to replace the window motor on power windows.

I don't think any computer PC or Mac have a definite advantage over one or the other. Get what you like, what you can afford. For me I don't like Apple and never did. Not going to start a flame war about it, just my opinion. I'd rather put that extra money towards a completely decked out custom PC and some extra hardware goodies.

Oh BTW Amiga rules (ruled) all. :)

Macs are not for the computer illiterate, they are for people who have better things to do that fine tune their computers all day.

well said.

To the OP, the slideshow feature is nice in OS x. I don't think that it would be a deciding factor in buying a computer. I would look more into how much software you want to invest in to keep your machine virus free, whether or not you play the latest and greatest games, and what's more in your price range for the amount of performance you're looking for.

I must be lucky then. After my initial install I have yet to find the need to "fine tune all day".

and after my initial press the "on" button, I have yet to have to do anything to my Mac. I'm pretty sure I won't be defragging anytime soon, since OS x does that on it's own, and I'm pretty sure I won't be using any disk utilities anytime soon, since apple software, in majority, is written by apple so there aren't many QC issues with buggy/corrupt files. But, none of this has anything to do with the OP, so I'm not going to argue this any further. Oh, and I guess I have to add one of these in here  Please, insert last word here...

If I chose to buy a PC with software pre-loaded then I am absolutely positive that I could have also pressed the "on" button and had no problems either. Since I already owned a copy of XP Pro I chose to build my own PC which is the reason for my initial install. Can you do that with your MAC? Personally I have nothing against Apple, but the attitude of some of the "cultists" and their belief that MAC is the end all, be all does annoy me every now and then. To each his own, which is what makes this country so great.

Oh, I almost forgot.

While I'm a dyed-in-the-wool PC owner (I've probably owned 20), I must state that the publicized issues with Vista are scaring me. Whether it's all the existing software NOT working with it to all the anti-piracy crap that's clogging the disk and hardware, I must admit that I'm looking at a Mac notebook for my dauther that's going to college this year. Little viruses; all peripherals seem to work first time; gorgeous displays. I'm following this discussion, so please just discuss the virtues and issues of the Mac, no personal attacks...

My background: I am a Mac owner & user. No, I'm am not computer illiterate ... the first computers I used included a TRS-80 & Commodore PET. I learned programming in assembly & machine code. I remember when 8 MHz was FAST. I have built my own Windows PC. I use my Mac.

To the OP:
What are you looking for? What do you want to do with the Mac? What are your requirements?
