Current thinking on grips for the G1

I have a G1 and I am frustrated with the grip and strap. I'm not yet in the market for a new camera, but I would certainly like a different grip for the camera, or at a minimum a way to attach a more slr-type strap.

I know its been several years since the G1 was a popular camera, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Uber-nerd and top contributor to the forum, Philip Ganderton of UNM, made this neat grip for his G1.

Check it out:

Write him and ask him to tell you how he did it. The rest of his site is a worthwhile read as well.

There was such G1 grip available at:

Ask them if you still could order it.

Greetings,
Roumen

Lensmate hasn't sold their G1 grip in quite some time. I'm kicking myself for not getting one a couple of years ago.

I ordered Canon PSC 2000 for my G1 by mistake (as it is designed for G2). However, just because it is designed for G2, its grip holding part feels really good when holding the G1. Just imagine the way you can hold G2 with additional leather grip!!

So I will highly recommend this combo!

meow,

That one is interesting, but it doesn't change the strap at all. The G1 strap is like a point and shoot rather than like a SLR strap, which the G2s and on have, I believe.

forrestsun,

Interesting. I haven't seen any pictures of how this case looks on the camera. If possible, could you take some pictures of it on it your G1? Does the case allow you to use a normal SLR strap?
