I just got my camera back from the Canon Service Center. Wow, I am amazed at how thorough they were with my camera. They found the focus was off and recalibrated it. It is perfect now. They cleaned the camera inside and out. It looks like it is brand spanken new out of the box. They even cleaned the viewfinder screen. They were fast too.

I sent it out UPS ground. It got to them Wednesday, April 18th. It took till the next Monday Morning to show up in the system. So, it showed up on the third business day. They started work on it, then it said completed Yesterday, Wednesday the 25th. I got an e-mail today saying it was shipped yesterday by FedEX overnight. I got it today. In Total from the day they recieved it was back in my hands by the 6th business day. I would say thats a pretty good turn around.

I would say this has made my fears so relieved. I was really afraid to send my camera out. They were awesome. Oh yeah, It was the Jamesburg, New Jersey service center.

Kool. Fast service is good, especially for those of us without a back-up body.

Sounds great Bernard. Did you send it to Irvine or Joisey? I'd like to know, just in case!

What's the reason for you to send your camera in? Just regular maintance? Do you get changed at all? What documents they need to verify the warranty, copy of a receipt &/or warranty card? I love to learn more about it just in case...

PalmBayFlo - I sent it to NJ. They were awesome.

Galaxy99 - I sent it in for a check up to see if the focus was front focusing. Sure enough they confirmed it and re-calibrated it. I just wanted to make sure before the warranty service ended. I Sent it with the 50mm f/1.8, the invoice for the repair they had me print off their website for the service, and my receipt from Adorama. That was all they needed. I could have sent the warranty card, but I figured that would be better proof. Customer service was really friendly when I called to check on it. They also sent me e-mails at every step of the process.

The only thing I noticed that bugged me that was no big deal was that it took 2-3 days to show that they received my camera. Once it showed up, everything was great. Thats not really an issue though.

Beats the very poor Australian turn around times, usually 4-5 weeks...

The Jamesburg center just received my 430EX that broke and said they are servicing it. That place is really great. I've been happy with their service as well. I hope to get it back by next week. :)

Congrats and hope you show us how nice your pictures are turning out.

Canons Factory service center is very good, and quick most of the time, as far as the question about paperwork, if you are sending it in for Warranty work then you will need a copy of the sales receipt or other means to prove when and where it was purchased. Canons warranty is for 1 Year.

That's fantastic service.

Here in NZ, we receive absolute shocking service. Expect at least 6 weeks for a simple fix. Several of the kiwi POTN members have waited a very long time, and then found some issues weren't resolved.

We had considered all sending our repairs to Australia next time! - However reading above, they have a long delay too :p

Maybe we should send our gear your way? Florida? (not sure how Canon USA runs.. each state or only one location countrywide?)
