Twice I've had a female with chicks in the summer hiss at me and make rushes toward me, coming within a foot. Once it was while I was out with a photo excursion client. Amazing that a little fool hen can make two grown men stumble backwards with their arms pinwheeling. Makes for nice images, though, once you change your undies. Steve Foss
