Very nice shot. But it looks just a little soft. I've had good results sharpening these up by opening the jpg in CS2, then go to the Channels Pallet. Click on the Blue Channel layer to select it, look at the image for sharpness. Click in the channel name area. Then do the Green and Red layers. You will find that one of the channels will be more blurred than the others. Select that color layer then go to Filters/Sharpen Edges. Then click the RGB layer and look at the image again. That will usually sharpen it up nice. You may have to do the same to the next most blurred layer though, but I haven't had to do that often.

Peter....Nice shot of the pheasant. I like the lighting and the color you got. I'd say, that as a novice, you are off to an excellet start.

Mitch.....Thanks for the sharpening tip.....it is most helpful.

Which channel did you use? That might be a bit too sharp. If it comes out too sharp, you can use Edit/Fade to tone it down a bit, but you have to use fade as the very next step or it greys out. It's definately sharper though.

I like the Pheasant shot. Around here you typically only see their heads in the long grass.

Mitch, thanks for the sharpening tip. Do you find that this works subtantially better than the filters built into PS?
