plug-in and Elements 2

I'd like to buy a third-party sharpening plug-in to use in Photoshop Elements 2. The vendor says it works only with 8-bit images. I shoot with a Canon 10D and an S400. I've not been able to find the bit size of jpeg images in these cameras. I've searched the manuals. I've called Canon. I've searched through the detailed file information box. Can't find the answer. I do know raw images in the 10D are 12-bit...that's in the 10D manual. But what about jpeg? Or tiff for that matter?

Obviously, I won't buy the plug-in if I can't use it. Can anyone give me an answer?

I dont know if this answers your question, but, Fred Miranda's Intellisharpen works just fine in PSE2.0 using JPGs that I shoot with my 10d. Not sure if this matters, but, my JPGs are straight from the camera, and not RAW conversions.

If the sharpener that you are thinking of states "Works in PSE2.0" then I would suspect that it will work.

After reading your previous post, just an FYI, if you try the Fred Miranda sharpener. Intellisharpen does not show up in the filters. It shows up under File -> Automation Tools

The jpg images from the camera are 8-bit. PS Elements only works on 8-bit images. If you shoot in RAW mode, the resulting CRW file is 12-bit, and during the conversion process you have the option of saving it as an 8-bit or 16-bit. You should have no problem with using an 8-bit plugin in PSE.
