The 70-200 can get very good results if you can get close enough to them birds. It's all in the fast response and steady tracking....the 70-200 can allow you to practice that. Now, 300L (any) is a much better BIF lens, however, for those gulls you would not really need it. Remember, proximity beats FL most of the time. Words of wisdom.
