great horned owl

I posted a blurry/grainy shot of a juvie GHO a few days ago, and later that same day I managed to track down either mom or dad (sorry, but I don't know how to determine gender in owls. I guess it's only important that they know how to tell one another apart...)
Anyway, this one isn't much better, quality wise. I've tried to clone out a distracting branch that crossed the bird's face, so you'll note that I'm not very good at PS, yet. I'm just happy to have seen one of these magnificent birds in its own element.

Owls always seem to perch in a mess. Good getting the adult though!

I really like this shot. Anything that shows them in their environment is nice. Lovely feathers.

You know exactly where I live and the owl is in the woods across the street from our house... how am I hogging the owl? It's a vacant, undeveloped lot and you can tromp around and get ticks just like I do, right?
