Does anyone have a collection of cloud/horizon shots that you wouldn't mind if I borrowed your clouds? I'm trying to salvage a picture with a blown out sky. I was thinking I could layer over in PS. :)

Probably need much greater FOD. :)

Here's the shot. Is it salvageable do you reckon?

almost any shot is fixable, just depends on the amount of time you want to take.
I'll see if I have any shots with clouds that fit that perspective.

Quickie edit using one of my images. The image I used is in the folder above.

Amazing! Do you mind if I use those clouds? I will redo them on a larger version of the image.

I can't do what Zepher did. I tried layers, but it didn't come out nearly as nice.

I did the attached in a couple of minutes. I have a few hundred different cloud shots that I keep handy for backgrounds.

The key is to making your selection as good as possible and I put the clouds on a layer underneath the car. I applied a layer mask and this is what I got.

The image os more than salvageable assuming that you like the non-sky part. If you are interested in these clouds I'll send them to you.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I understand why you might want to put a sky in there but I would leave it alone. I like the negative white space. It's an advertiser's dream. You could put some copy up in there and make an AD out of it. It's a great image.

I don't know if that particular shot needs them, but doing a sky replacement is a good reason to start collecting a variety of cloud shots.
get'em when they are nice looking, regardless whether there is anything on the ground of interest. Shoot 'em frontlit, backlit, sidelit, early, late, sunrise, sunset. Save them for later use.

Wow, thanks for the comments. I'm just a beginner. That shot really could have used a ND filter imo.
