This guy had an attitude today. He was pestering the Goldfinches, chasing them away from their Niger Seed feeder and just sat there, taking his time while the Goldfinches could do nothing but watch. Pretty funny to watch.

Very nice Mitch, my goldfinches have been ignoring the niger and depleting my sunflower seeds.

Thanks Trevor. These finches can empty that tube every 4 or 5 days. They seemed to leave everything else alone, then yesterday I saw them eating all the other stuff too, like for dessert. :)

Nice series Mitch. I see these two species together a lot. I guess they like the
same environmental preferences.

Good action portrayal, Mitch. That's what you get with Niger seed.

Thanks guys. The house finch acted like it was a game and everybody else was playing along. Even a chickadee got in on it. It was pretty funny to watch. I'm always amazed how well all the different birds get along though.

Very cute, I have always thought of those House Finch as little thugs. :)

Nice series Mitch. Our Gold Finches have mostly turned bright yellow but I am still seeing an spot here or there from their winter coloring. Got some shots last night and had a treat of my first sighting and pics of a Rose Breasted Grosbeak.

Nice series Mitch. The Greenfinches are the ones who do the chasing in my garden. The poor Blue Tits and Great Tits are always getting chased from the feeders.

Great captures Mitch but I have to say, the last one is my favorite...simply an outstanding capture.

Thanks Downy. I think they all take turns. Earlier this week it was a little chipping sparrow that was running everyone around, even though he's the smallest bird that comes here. :)

Bill, I only have one that has fully turned, all the others are females or still changing. Must be the weather.

Thanks Kevin. None of them really go hungry though, with 4 feeders up and seeds on the ground. :)

Thanks Reyno, to see two species on the tube feeder was very unusual, for sure. :)

Great shots. We have never seen Goldfinches in our yard, although friends in more rural areas have them. We have a lot of House Finches, but they ignore the Niger and thistle seed in favor of sunflower seed.

Thats what was so funny about this. None of the other birds have ever eaten the Niger seeds, until I shot these. It's like that House Finch was just being a pest on purpose. :D

I live outside the edge of town, so I seem to get a little bit of everything in my yard. :)

Thanks Don. I like that one too. It's pretty unusual to see these together. :)
