Man, Adorama's REALLY making me suffer in anticapation on this one! They actually charged my credit card on April 27th. However, NO 1DM2 YET!

I called them today, was told it shipped today, and actually got a UPS tracking number. I guess now I can officially say, "yahoo"! I'll have it this week.

So when I do get it, what's this I'm reading about "conditioning" the batteries? Is there something special I need to do, or do I just charge them and go, but not expect them to last too long until the 3rd time I use them?

I'm off to pump some iron to "condition" myself for lugging this beast around with 24-70 2.8 lens attached!

From what I have read, the battery should be fully charged and discharged 3Xs before the first use in camera in order to "condition" it for optimal charge life. I did not do that with my battery. I charged it fully and put it into the camera. When the battery is low I will hook it to the charger and push the "refresh" button on the charger. The "refresh" button pulls down the battery to a "dead" state then initiates a recharge. I figured it is six of one, a half dozen of the other.

Well, I just couldn't wait!!

Mine FINALLY arrived from Adorama today. I bought an extra battery with it, so I charged 'em both, got one "refreshing" right now but slapped the other one right in and started shooting! I guess 1 out of 2 aint bad!

SWEET camera! It's a bit different to navigate & set up than the 10D, so I'm still figuring out how to navigate the darned thing. Sure does weigh a ton with the 24-70L attached! Feels pretty sturdy though, & very responsive. Haven't had much of a chance to really shoot with it yet, still kinda playing with all of the settings.

What I did not know is that the new ETTLII won't work correctly on the Metz 54MZ-3 flashes that I've been using (bummer), so I'll have to wait a few days for my 550EX to arrive to check out the new exposure system.

So I guess I'm off to happily click through some menus...& charge and recharge batteries!

It will be a fun camera just as soon as I figure out how to turn it on. I put myself to sleep reading the manual last night and I'm almost ready.
