Had my usual pair visit me again today, they're such friendly birds. I love the way that they do a hop, skip and dance as well, it's hilarious. At one stage, one of them was seriously thinking of flying into our loungeroom I suspect, it was eyeing it up big time.

Thanks guys. These are very friendly birds - this pair are regular visitors to me, and I've even handfed them in the past!

Thank you :-) These are fast moving birds, hard to get accurately focused shots on them, especially since I was using the D60 which as we all know has less than great AF, even in broad daylight. The Sigma is a macro lens, so it's not touted for AF speed either...surprised I did so well, probably should have grabbed my 70-200 and 1D instead!

Beautiful bird with sharp details on the head and eye here Dave. I've only seen a couple high in the trees during a trip to Sydney several years ago.

A youch of fill flash may have helped the dark areas but still a keeper.

Thanks for the kind words guys :) I've tried shooting with flash in AV mode, and it is always too full on, any suggestions? I could try just lowering the flash output by dropping FEC...do you think that'd work ok?

You could try for a Flash Softbox, you can get them off ebay for a dime a dozen these days

Yes, I'm thinking of getting a Lumiquest Softbox II, but that don't work with the on board flash on the D60. I have made my own LordV diffuser for macro work, and it's on my 1D setup, but I'm too lazy to change lenses lol. Got teeting problems with it anyways, need to sort it out.
