Oh man Im so close to getting it I can almost feel the weight of it now.

One paycheck away and 'The Brick' is mine! I could have it as soon as the 3rd of May or as soon as next week. Worst case scenario would be the 20th of May (I hope it doesnt come down to that date) Depends if I dare ask for a loan from a lovely family member will determine how soon I get it.

Im hoping she will say yes and Ill be able to snatch it up before the B&H code expires. Anyway I have to share in the excitement and anticipation of my first L. Thanks to POTN for changing my priorities,:p and being an influence to the emptiness of my wallet. Appreciate it:D

Dont be surprised if I start a new thread celebrating its arrival, lol.

Hows this lens been treating you? Any quirks about it (Just trying to make conversation)?

It's a GREAT lens. I love it and i's my primary lens.

And a note of warning the 'L' thing does get addictive. Also, the whole 'empty wallet' idea, you'll get use to it.

Yep, but unfortunately for me that comes with being married with kids BEFORE even buying any gear!

Its a pretty decent lens, however it is a bit odd in design. The hood is fixed on the barrel, but the front of the lens protudes out into the hood when you adjust the zoom. The odd thing is that the lens is the longest at 24mm, and the shortest at 70mm... inside the hood. It also seems to have a great deal of throw on the zoom ring, as I've had those break on mine.

Just remember, open up the box sitting down on the floor. I read the thread about someone here who opened the box and the lens fell out. I just ordered my brick so I made sure I was sitting down when I opened it up, and my lens almost fell out! I was really surprised how heavy it was. Be prepared to exercise a bit to get used to it.

I keep my 24-70 on my 5D most of the time, although, the 70-200 2.8 IS is now my new favorite zoom. It never ends. :) But enjoy your new purchase, take it out and really use it. Otherwise, it's not worth the big money.
