Sweet series Detail is great.

I see alot of gold in there. Most of the year around here they are really grey, I do see some gold in them this time of the year, with young.
Do you think they change during the breeding season to have more of the color gold like the young?

"In many areas, wild Sandhills preen iron-rich mud into their feathers creating a deep rusty brown hue which lasts during spring and summer. As fall advances, these rusty feathers molt and the birds return to their grayish appearance. In some regions, however, iron-rich mud is absent and the birds appear grey all year."

The majority of the Sandhills I see here in Southwest Florida have that goldish tone to them.

I think this is why the adults take a long look into the water. The location where they nest is surrounded by water and every morning and evening, they have to trek across with the chick. Sometimes, they adults will fly, leaving the youngster the task of walking across or swimming if the water gets too deep. This time, they all walked together. The light was getting scarce for the shot and shot at a distance.
