Yellow Rumped Warblers - 3 Kinds I Think

Not sure what this first one is, he was all yellow...

Nice images. They all look to be Yellow-rumped Warblers (or more fondly called Myrtle Warblers). The second, third and fourth are all breeding plumaged males. They are very sharp looking this time of year. The others are all imm. or females, except the last is a molting male.

Thanks Bob, but how the hell are we supposed to learn these guys if they keep changing their feathers?

Hahah, tell me about it. Warblers are super confusing, wait til fall, it gets even worse!

Very cute pictures, I like the pose in pic#3 the best of the series! ..I also am pretty sure that pic#5 isn't actually a Yellow-rumped Warbler however, to me it looks more like something in the flycatcher family, Eastern Wood Peewee maybe?

Thanks Phil and Downy. I'll be going back there today Downy, and will try and get more pics of that bird. I think it was the only one around, although there were so many little birds flitting around I can't be sure. I also got 2 pics of a Blue Bird that weren't very good and I want to get more of that. There were also a LOT of flying bugs in the air and they were all going after them.

All are Yellow rumped Warblers, except for #5, which is actually an Eastern Phoebe.

Thanks Ephily. It does look like a Phoebe, but I haven't seen one with that color breast before, the ones I saw were off white.

I can hardly wait to see a Warbler and its driving me crazy to see so many on this site. I am looking forward to these guys...second shot is nice and fourth shot is a great pose. Number 5 does appear to be a Phoebe.

Thanks Gary. Yup, that fourth one is my favorite to. As for arrivals, I had one for several weeks, then one day I looked out there and there were 7 of them, this at my yard feeders. Now I have them coming and going all the time. So I suspect, they will show up one day soon and all at once.

These shots were out in the woods, and it's the first time I've seen them wild. I was out there again today and they were all through the woods, so there seems to be plenty of them.

Mitch, hope you get some more nice ones like these. I also think the LBJ (little brown job) is a pewee.

If the yellow-rumpeds are flowing through LaCrosse, it's only a matter of days before they're up here. Hurry!
