Renewal

This shot was taken during a prairie fire near my house. It would have been a great candidate for HDR, but I didn't know how to do it at the time...

June 2005.
The flood waters had receded by over 1m by when I took this photo of the Little Red Deer River, a normally very small river about 5m wide. The normal waterway is behind the near trees and in front of the back trees. Beyond is a campground.

Storm at Chapel Porth

Seeing the sunset from thedjo above, reminded me that I had this shot.

Taken back in January when I was hosting 'Nifty' I saw some bad weather slightly further down the coast from me.

Canon 350D - 50mm ('Nifty') Blended exposure to capture the dynamic range.

Right... Plenty of varied shots there, well done everyone.

After long consideration, here are the results:-

1st - Grumpyhaggis and "Typhoon", for his portrayal of stoicism in the face of adversity, it's clear from the expression on the woman's face that this isn't the first, or last time this will happen.

2nd - Jim - Flood - a simple "record" type shot, but vividly shows the power of water in full flood.

3rd - DozerLYP - Hurricane - Shows well enough the force of the hurricane in blowing the tree over. I also enjoy the irony of the "No Entry" signs.

Well done everyone. I also liked the shot of the snow on the bird's nest, which vividly shows the effects of climate change.
