Okay...finally
I went to Calumet Photographic (the camera store) to get my DRebel. They had a Canon event, so I had a small discount, plus there was a canon rep over there, and as soon as he saw me buy the camera he started giving me free stuff  I got a cool must-own Canon EOS bascall cap, a nice Canon pen with a strap (for when I need to calculate DOF->Aperture->Shutter speed :)) and a cool carrying case. God bless canon. The salespeople started jokin around with the canon rep telling him to give me a Lens... too bad he didn't fall for it hehe.

Oh, and..... guess what I got to touch ? Yup, he had three 1DMk2 laying around, so I played around with one of them... I didn't spend too much time on it, cause I would have just been tempting myself, but it felt really good in my hands. I got a poster instead :P
Anyway, today was a good day.
I'm waiting for the battery to charge, and I'll go take some pix.

Congratulations!

You have made a very happy decision! I remember when I brough my Rebel home for the first time...my G3 instantly lost its battery and CF card.

Just remember, the spending has only begun...

Congratulations! Welcome to the EOS-world (unless you've been here before). Looking forward to see your obligatory first pictures of your cat/dog/child/wife/something :)

I guess it's gonna be the "something", because I don't have any of the other :eyes
Today it was dark and cloudy, not quite suitable for outdoor pics, plus I'm not yet done reading the manual and getting acquainted to all the features.
so far so good though !

The manual is for... girls.. :) Go outside (you did get the obligatory 50mm f/1.4 or f1.8 didn't you? ;)) and shoot the L out of everything. By experimenting a lot, and reading this forum you will learn anyway :)

Best regards from Helge, who've never owned an SLR before the 10D, and the only time touching my manual was when I had to move it out of my box when I opened it, screaming "SHOW ME THE BATTERY-CHARGER" =D

:~( Noo, I did not get that lens. Just the kit lens so far (18-55mm f3.5). I haven't been in the "EOS" world before, but I have been into photography for the past 2 years or so (I used to be a Nikonian  ).... Anyway, this forum indeed is getting me deeper, both in knowledge, and spendings.... I'm going straight to L
As for the manual, I think it saves the headache of figuring out all the shortcuts and stuff, plus a lot of cool info that you won't get if you don't open it (fe: Did you know that using your camera next to transmitter towers-broadcast and stuff like that, because you might damage it due to high magnetic fields ? )
