Sigma 24-70 2.8 EX DG - third time lucky

So the first one back-focused by a foot and a half at the wide end, spot on at 70m. The replacement, at both ends, would almost focus, then de-focus, then on the third press focus perfectly. Spoke to Sigma who said, 'boy are you unlucky - try one more swap if Jessops will wear it and if you still have problems send it in to us for calibration'. Well Jessops (as always) did wear it and I picked the third copy up yesterday and... almost too sharp!

A stellar lens if you get a good one (or get it calibrated) which equals the Canon for sharpness and has a colour rendition that I, for one, prefer. Plus it looks super cool when mounted.

All I wonder is how many slightly duff Sigmas are out there on the cameras of people who don't realise what they're truly capable of. Anyone have similar experiences with any of Sigma's line-up?
