Never seen one like it, but it's a beauty. Did you shoot that near Mesa?

That's a Verdin. The red shoulder patch is the key. Nice catch!

I shot it at the Riparian Water Reserve in Gilbert which is next to Mesa.

BTW, does anyone have any suggestions for linking to flickr pictures? The link at the top now, including the html was copied from flickr. They state that that must be placed in any external link to one of your pictures on theie site. The prolem is that POTN doesn't make it clickable.

The first direct link to the picture worked fine but I realized flickr doesn't want that used externally.

How do the people post pictures here that display in the thread yet are hosted externally? I've never gotten that to work.

Did you try adding the link in the box after clicking the Picture Icon in the post, at the top? Thats what I do for my hosted links, but I don't use flickr.

No, I hadn't thought of that.

I just tried the copy and paste from the link and it worked.
The image is quite large though, so you may wish to resize before posting.

All you have to do is this:
(remove the spaces between the markup tags and the url)

IMAGE NOT FOUND
Content warning: NOT AN IMAGE

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Redirected to error image by FLICKR

Why not switch to Photobucket, and you would not have this type of problem.

If they do not allow hotlinking and they have an average or better webmaster, they would disable hotlinking from their domain. From the looks of it, it appears that they are not making any formal attempt to stop it.

As for what I did, it is nothing special. Standard BBC (bulletin board code). You may want to check with Flickr as to any contractual limitations that they may impose upon you when you signed up for hosting.
