My Take on the "Black-backed Woodpecker"

First time with a real comfirmation that I had actually seen a Black-backed Woodpecker.

30D; 500mm; f4.0; 1/200; ISO 500; Manual Exposure; Handheld.

Two very nice captures and I love the second one for the perch and how the yellw head shows up...could use some clone and patching to remove those twigs from behind his head.

Thanks Bea; The second image was taken from about 40 feet away, so it's a big crop...Held up pretty well though.

I think the blacks look perfect in that first shot, great details in the wings and colors just as I remember them...no fill needed ;-)a

I too saw how far the bird was for the second shot - I can't believe how the 500mm lens pulled it in so nice.
